I had copies of my resume, notepad and pen, networking cards, and I was dressed in my nice black suit ready to attend the Career Fair. I had practiced my elevator speech, (a 30 second introduction of my education and work experience) to be presented after a firm handshake with employers. As I walked through the doors of the 7th floor of University Hall, I had to admit that I was nervous. I waited on line behind many other prospective candidates to meet the employer that I had researched ahead of time. Before I knew it, the employer had listened to my elevator speech and had my resume in hand.
I don't know if all this will result in an interview or the job I want, but I had a goal to accomplish to meet employers in person and be prepared with a plan. Nervous I was, but I did it! Yeah, me.
Did you go to the Fair? How did you do?
